The Mustang’s started their season opener on Tuesday, 28th with West Point-Beemer School with all 3 teams playing. The support from the school and community is overwhelming and the high school volleyball program truly appreciates it. THANK YOU!
The Mustang Varsity team game was 3 out of 5 sets and won this game in three sets: 25-17, 24-14 and 25-15. Team stats: 7 serve aces, 42 kills with 28 set assists, 2 solo blocks and 62 digs.
Mustangs add another 2 Wins
The Mustang’s traveled to Madison for a triangular on Thursday. The Mustang Varsity team’s first game of the night was against Clarkson-Leigh. The Mustangs won both sets: 25-21 and 25-22. The final game of the night was against the Madison. The Mustangs won both sets: 25-5 and 25-13. We continued to be an aggressive serving team with 15 serve aces for the night. Our offense did a great job of running plays and the team had 51 kills with 49 set assist and 4 solo blocks. The team’s defense picked up 88 digs.
Mustang Volleyball Team 3rd Place – Scotus Tourney
On Saturday, Sept. 1st, the Mustangs traveled to Columbus for the Scotus Tournament. The first game of the day for the Mustangs was with Twin River. The Mustangs won 25-12 and 25-15.
The Mustangs then advanced to the semi-finals and played Bishop Neumann. The Mustangs came up short and lost in three sets, scoring 25-20, 21-25 & 20-25. It was a very competitive game of the day. Bishop Neumann did a great job getting us out of system and played good defense. While the Mustangs learned to continue to be an aggressive serving team and our defense did a great job reading their attacks and our attackers did an exceptional job changing up offense. Putting the Mustangs in the Championship bracket playing for 3rd place.
The Mustangs then headed into the final game of the tournament against the Hartington Cedar Catholic. The Mustangs won in two sets: 25-11 and 25-23. The Mustangs played very well, adjusting as the match was played and continued to improve on their communication. The Mustangs ended the day receiving the 3rd place trophy.
The next games for the Mustangs will be Saturday, September 8th in Albion for the Boone Central Tournament. Teams that will be playing: Columbus Lakeview, Central City, Oakland-Craig, Tekamah-Herman, Boone Central, Ord and Crofton.
