The National Honor Society held its annual induction ceremony on Monday, November 15, at 7:30 pm. The following students were inducted as members at the candlelight ceremony: Shelby Putters, Allison Flood, Lindsay Christiansen, Brianna Frickenstein, Jacob Bohac, Whitney Heppner, Justin Aaberg, Zachary Doffin, Patrick Kosmacek, Jeb Nordby, Zaidya Hirschman, Derek Bremer, and Dexter Patterson. The students and guests were welcomed by the society adviser, Chris Chilcoat and Dr. Chris Stogdill, high school principal. Following their induction, led by honor society president Kevin Thor, there was an address given by Stanton’s school board president, Michael Marotz. The new members then received their membership pins, cards, and certificates. They now join the current members of the society: Melissa Leaver, Grant Nordby, Kevin Thor, Shannon Pestel, Samantha Oestreich, Colton Sperl, Steven Petersen, Dasi Sieh, and Beth Kethcart.
The National Honor Society is a service organization in which members are chosen by a Faculty Council. The organization recently went bowling to raise funds to support Spina Bifida. The students are also in the process of organizing a “Wall of Honor” to showcase Stanton alums who are in active military service. A power point program was presented at the Veteran’s Day program to kick off this project. We are hoping that whoever has a family member who graduated from Stanton and is currently in the service, will provide a picture for this project. We will also be wrapping gifts for the Tree of Caring in December, peer tutoring, and helping in the 5th and 6th grade rooms during their study time at the end of each school day.
Following the formal ceremony cake and punch were served.
